The Trust established three initiatives under which grants were
awarded on an invitation-to-bid basis only:
1) Conservation of the Natural Environment
The Trust committed to supporting organisations that encourage and promote:
- Wider countryside working
- Conservation of the marine biodiversity of the UK
- Conservation of uncharismatic UK species.
2) Farmed Animal Welfare
The Trust committed to supporting organisations that encourage and promote:
- Strategies to catalyse changes among those involved in the production, consumption and regulation of animals reared for food that will benefit the welfare of farmed animals.
3) Philanthropy
The Trust committed to promoting strategic giving amongst grant makers by:
- Encouraging philanthropists to support the conservation of the natural enviroment and the improvemment of the welfare of farmed animals
- Educating philanthropists about the implications of "spending out" their resources for charitable purposes.
